Slips, trips and falls FAQ
According to RIDDOR in 2014, slips, trips and falls have a combined estimated number of lost working days totalling 1.5 million per year. Per 100,000 workers in the UK it is thought that slips or trips happen to 190 people per year. Around 77 people per 100,000 on average fall from height each year. Nearly three in ten people falling from height (29%) suffer fatal injuries.
The main aim of a risk assessment is to identify the key hazards within the business and establish who (if anyone) is particularly at risk. You must take into account permanent and temporary staff as well as customers, suppliers or volunteers that may come on site. In short anyone that enters the premises. Once the risks have been identified, the responsible person (person responsible for monitoring health and safety) must make sure staff are aware of potential issues and know how to react in case of an emergency.
Indoor control measures can help reduce the incidence of slips and falls and are pretty straightforward. These include:
1) the use of moisture-absorbent mats with bevelled edges in entrance areas
2) displaying "Wet Floor" signs as needed (when cleaning or after spills)
3) the use of anti-skid adhesive tape in risk identified areas
4) the cleaning up of spills immediately after an accident occurs
5) the use of proper area rugs or mats in food preparation areas

Do courses expire?
There is no expiry date on course credits. Once a credit has been bought it can be allocated at any time. However, should the credit have been allocated to the delegate, each learner then has 12 months to complete the course.
In other words, unallocated course credits have no expiry date. If for example you ordered 1000 licences, and allocated 600 courses in year 1, you would have 400 licences left to allocate in year 2.
