Lone Working FAQ
Lone working refers to anyone that is required to work somewhere when no-one else is around. A task may require a worker to complete said task in isolation and away from others, possibly for a period of time. Such staff may be exposed to risk because there is no-one to assist them and so a risk assessment may be required.
Common practices used by organisations to manage the personal safety of their Lone Workers include:
1) Conducting Risk Assessments
2) Implementation of a Buddy System
3) Documenting a Lone Worker Policy
4) Lone Worker Training
5) Conflict Management Training
6) Use of monitoring systems and equipment (Panic Alarms, Man-down (fall/impact) Detectors, Pendant Trackers, GPS based Mobile Apps.
In the United Kingdom, a Code of practice relating to the 'Provision of lone worker services' via the British Standard, BS 8484 applies. In August 2016, the standard was republished, and BS 8484:2016 was introduced. More information can be found by subscribing to our Lone Working course available below.

Do courses expire?
There is no expiry date on course credits. Once a credit has been bought it can be allocated at any time. However, should the credit have been allocated to the delegate, each learner then has 12 months to complete the course.
In other words, unallocated course credits have no expiry date. If for example you ordered 1000 licences, and allocated 600 courses in year 1, you would have 400 licences left to allocate in year 2.
