Confidentiality FAQ
The development of trust is fundamental to any relationship in the care sector. Keeping patient's information confidential builds trust. It potentially allows for the free flow of information between the carer and patient whilst acknowledging that the individuals personal life and associated issues are important to them. Confidentiality is one of the core duties of medical practice.
Handling and protecting sensitive information not only helps build trust between carer and patient but is a legal requirement in the healthcare profession. Health care providers are required to keep a patient's personal health information private unless consent is given for its release. To protect yourself and your patient make sure you keep yourself informed of all laws and regulations related to the handling of personal information. Do not share information with people who aren't required to know such information and keep any written information in a safe and secure place.
Accurate record keeping is important for a number of reasons but two are imperative regarding healthcare. These are;
1) to enable the continuity of care for the patient within and between services
2) to compile a complete record of the patients medical and care history whilst under supervision
Records need to be accurate, honest, clear and timely (i.e. written / recorded as near as possible to the actual time any note events occur).

Do courses expire?
There is no expiry date on course credits. Once a credit has been bought it can be allocated at any time. However, should the credit have been allocated to the delegate, each learner then has 12 months to complete the course.
In other words, unallocated course credits have no expiry date. If for example you ordered 1000 licences, and allocated 600 courses in year 1, you would have 400 licences left to allocate in year 2.
