Communication Skills FAQ
Health and social care requires a strong working relationship between carer and patient. The patient is reliant on the carer and the carer must understand the needs of the patient. Therefore like most professions good communication skills are a necessity to provide the best level of service possible.
In order to build a good working relationship with patients in a care environment carers need to pay attention to their patients whilst listening to their needs. Any advice given needs to be clear, accurate, honest and focused on the individual. This includes responses that are appropriate to the patients age, sex, language, cultural needs and importantly their level of understanding. Patients should be encouraged to communicate without feeling intimidated and should be addressed in a courteous and respectful way.
There are numerous forms of communication you will learn about on our courses. Non-verbal communication such as "body language" is an important element of communication in the care environment. Another aspect is written communication such as record keeping that needs to be precise in order to comply with legal requirements when dealing with patient care.

Do courses expire?
There is no expiry date on course credits. Once a credit has been bought it can be allocated at any time. However, should the credit have been allocated to the delegate, each learner then has 12 months to complete the course.
In other words, unallocated course credits have no expiry date. If for example you ordered 1000 licences, and allocated 600 courses in year 1, you would have 400 licences left to allocate in year 2.
